East Grand Rapids is joining at least 100 other municipalities in a class-action lawsuit over unfunded mandates regarding storm-water regulation.
For the past five years, the city has averaged 7.2 violent crimes per year and ranks as one of the safest cities in the state.
The new park will have native plants and trees with areas for bird watching and fishing.
All third-graders passed the math portion of last fall’s MEAP test, and 98 percent of fourth-graders did.
The first half of the trail debuted in 2004.
