The man accused in the deaths of Amy Henslee and Tonya Howarth entered a pleas of not guilty this morning on two counts of open murder and two counts of felony use of a firearm.
The man entered the Walmart store in rural Van Wert, Ohio, last April dressed in a striped polo shirt and caught the eye of several employees because of the flowered swimming trunks he was wearing.
Within days of Venus Stewart’s disappearance in April, police were focused on her estranged husband, Doug Stewart, as a possible suspect, according to testimony Wednesday in St. Joseph County Circuit Court.
Jurors in the trial of Doug Stewart heard from eight witnesses Wednesday morning before proceedings were adjourned for the day just before noon.
