The seven Republican candidates took turns fielding issue-related questions from a moderator, audience members and each other in the debate at Muskegon Community College.
Jordan Conrad said the debate is a way to help Muskegon County voters and challenge the candidates.
Muskegon County Democrats decided Thursday night not to endorse a candidate at this time.
The cost of energy is emerging as a key issue in the race for president. Both candidates are shifting positions on offshore drilling and other issues — demonstrating just how pivotal energy, foreign oil and the cost of gas have become in the 2008 campaign.
