Case McCalla pleaded guilty in June in an agreement with the U.S. Attorney’s office in Grand Rapids. In exchange for those pleas and McCalla’s cooperation with authorities, the prosecutors agreed not to bring additional charges against him and to recommend a reduction in offense level at sentencing.
At the end of the hearing, visiting 60th District Judge Richard Pasarela decided there was enough evidence against Kennedy for him to stand trial in Muskegon County’s 14th Circuit Court on charges of open murder, being a felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, two felony firearm counts and being a fourth-time habitual offender.
The man accused of shooting three pits bulls is a Norton Shores resident but police have declined to release any more information about this identity.
